Slurry Seal project to impact some Peoria roads starting Monday (centralillinoisproud.com) — Peoria drivers should prepare for temporary daytime street closures and no-parking zones starting Monday, Oct. 12, as Public Works applies a slurry seal to extend the life of several neighborhood roads. Residents on affected streets will get door-hanger notices 24 to 48 hours ahead and must move vehicles off the roadway until signs are removed, with rain pushing work to the following week.
2. Peoria County zoning board hears union estimate of 3,000 man hours per turbine on wind project (peoriastandard.com) — Peoria County neighbors weighing the Four Creeks wind project just heard a union estimate that each turbine could generate roughly 3,000 hours of construction work and potentially boost school construction over time. At the same zoning meeting, a nearby resident questioned whether promised tax revenues would truly stay local, while the union urged the board and county to approve the project.
3. New GFL transfer station in Peoria for trash services (centralillinoisproud.com) — Peoria residents now have a new GFL transfer station that will consolidate local trash before it's hauled to distant landfills, cutting truck traffic and keeping more business in town. City and county leaders say the facility buys about ten years to finalize a new landfill plan, while eligible residents in the program can drop off household garbage once a week at no charge.

5. Peoria zoning board hears expert testimony on wind turbine charting for pilots (peoriastandard.com) — Peoria County residents following the Four Creeks wind project should know the zoning board just heard detailed testimony on how the turbines would be charted for pilots and what that means for flight safety. An aviation expert explained FAA charting requirements, minimum safe altitudes, and why foggy conditions could make visual-flight operations around turbines, silos, and towers unsafe.
