At Peoria Public Library, it doesn’t matter who you are, what you do, how much you earn, what language you speak, or religion you practice. We’ll never tell you what to read, what to think, who to be. Our doors are open to all, and everything we have is yours. No questions asked.
Peoria Public Library is also more than just a collection of books, movies, magazines and historical artifacts, and that’s something we like to highlight during National Library Week, April 19-25.

Someone very wise once said that the most important asset of every library goes home at night: the librarians. During National Library Week, we will allow our staff to be a little more relaxed and wear “Spirit Wear” as a small token of appreciation. We hope you will take the opportunity to thank them for their tireless efforts and expertise.
Monday, April 20: Peoria Public Library staff will dress up like their favorite author or book character, if they choose to, and this is also the date that the Top 10 Frequently Challenged Books of 2019 is released nationwide. So, be sure to visit and feel free to wear your own character costume!
Tuesday, April 21: National Library Workers Day
Wednesday, April 22: National Bookmobile Day
Thursday, April 23: Take Action for Libraries Day, a day to rally advocates to support libraries.
Remember, Peoria Public Library has five locations and a Bookmobile so our patrons have access to our services seven days a week. We offer 1,300 programs per year, free computers with internet and a collection of resources worth $19.5 million. Best of all, we offer our expertise – which is priceless.
