Peoria Public Works Department is reserving downtown parking meters for restaurant carryout and curbside pickup.
Select parking meters being reserved for customers in downtown Peoria
PEORIA – March 26, 2020 – The City of Peoria’s Public Works Department is reserving several parking meters around downtown for restaurant carryout and curbside pickup users this week. The effort is in response to the state of Illinois’ executive stay-at-home order temporarily prohibiting restaurant owners from serving customers inside their establishments.

Drive-through, carryout and delivery services are permitted to continue, however, finding a place to park downtown can sometimes be a chore or deterrent for customers. To ease the transition, the City is marking designated metered spots to help keep foot traffic flowing.
Starting this week, several bags are being placed over meters to reserve parking spaces in and around the business district. Customers who utilize curbside services are encouraged to park in these designated spots labeled, “Curbside Pickup Parking Only,” and follow commonsense rules of the road when picking up takeout.
