September 10, 2021 (Peoria, IL) Mayor Rita Ali and the City Council will host a September 11th Remembrance Ceremony on Saturday, September 11 at noon to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the tragedy of September 11, 2021.  The ceremony will be held in front of the Sonar Tide sculpture, next to City Hall, 419 Fulton Street.  Speakers for the event include the Mayor and members of the City Council.  They will share reflections of the day along with Fire Chief Bachman, Police Chief Echevarria, and first responders.

The Murray Baker Bridge will be lit in blue on the evening of September 11 as part of the “Tribute in Light”.  Cities around the nation will be joining New York City in lighting their buildings in blue to commemorate and recognize the events of September 11.
