October 19, 2021 (Peoria, IL) On Monday, October 25 at 10:30 am, the Heart of Illinois United Way will be recognized with an honorary street naming.  Founded on October 18, 1921, the Heart of Illinois United Way has raised more than $337 million since its inception, focusing on assisting residents with needs in education, health, and financial stability.  From their first location in room 102 in Peoria’s City Hall to their current home at 509 West High Street, the Heart of Illinois United Way continues to serve the residents of Marshall, Peoria, Putnam, Stark, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties.

Speaking at last week’s City Council Meeting, Heart of Illinois United Way President Jennifer Zammuto stated, “The Heart of Illinois United Way has proven that we are built to support central Illinois in times like these, no matter the challenge.”  She continued, “As we celebrate decades of support from our volunteers and donors this year, it’s our responsibility to look back and to continue to drive change now and into the future.”
