Drivers encouraged to avoid the area as asphalt paving continues

Motorists who travel in and around the South Western Avenue reconstruction project should avoid the area over the next few days. Beginning Friday, July 30, motorists should expect delays as milling and asphalt paving operations continue along South Western Avenue from Howett Street to Lincoln Avenue. 
 
Due to Thursday’s inclement weather, the project has been delayed and will resume tomorrow and continue into Monday, August 2. Full traffic stops of up to 20 minutes on Howett Street and Lincoln Avenue should be expected beginning at 7 a.m. both Friday and Monday. 
 
Drivers are urged to avoid the area or use caution while traveling in and around the construction zone. The Howett Street and Lincoln Avenue detour routes will both be effected by these operations.
