City Of Peoria: New Traffic Delays Ahead In Western Avenue Reconstruction Project

Asphalt paving taking place week of July 26

Motorists who travel in and around South Western Avenue need to be aware of upcoming travel delays. Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, July 28, drivers should expect delays as milling and asphalt paving operations begin along South Western Avenue from Howett Street to Lincoln Avenue. 
 
Full traffic stops of up to 20 minutes should be expected beginning at 7 a.m. and continuing throughout the day Wednesday through Friday on Howett Street and Lincoln Avenue.
 
Drivers are urged to use caution while traveling in construction zones and avoid the area if possible. The Howett Street and Lincoln Avenue detour routes will both be effected by these operations. Motorists are urged to allow extra time for travel or seek alternate routes.
