Motorcyclist Dies In North Sterling Avenue Accident

Motorcyclist Seth T. Guthrie of Peoria was headed northbound on Sterling when he collided with a vehicle.

On Sunday, July 5, 2020 at approximately 9:38 p.m., the Peoria Police Department, Advanced Medical Transport, and Peoria Fire Department responded to the 3300 block of North Sterling Avenue regarding an accident involving a motorcycle and a car.

Upon arrival, officers located the male operator of the motorcycle in the roadway. He was pronounced deceased on the scene at 10:16 p.m.

The driver of the car was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Information gathered at the scene indicated the driver of the car was pulling out onto Sterling Avenue from the 3300 block of North Sterling Avenue as the driver of the motorcycle--27-year-old Seth T. Guthrie of Peoria--was headed northbound on Sterling. As the driver of the car entered Sterling, the motorcycle and the car collided.

Guthrie suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries, and likely died instantly. He was wearing a helmet.

There will be no autopsy. Toxicology tests are pending.
