Peoria Woman Celebrates 110th Birthday, Shares Longevity Secrets

Doris Snyder credits reading and writing every day with keeping her mind sharp.

PEORIA, IL — A Peoria woman recently celebrated a birthday most people don't get to enjoy. Doris Snyder celebrated her 110th birthday with family and friends, years after moving downstate from Chicago during the Great Depression, WLS reported. The news report said Snyder was born in 1908, and spent her younger years working for a newspaper and traveling the world.

Snyder said she reads and writes every day to keep her mind sharp.

According to the Peoria JournalStar, Snyder's 109th and 110th birthday were two years she didn't expect to make it to celebrate.
