Strange Arrest: Colby Burke Dances Away from Traffic Stop
How Colby Lee Burke's Traffic Stop Became One of the Strangest in American History

Lewisburg, October 26, 2015— Dancing one's way away from a traffic stop is generally not how these encounters with law enforcement tend to go. Nevertheless, in October of 2015, Colby Lee Burke did just that when he found himself pulled over by a trooper. How so? Well, he was spotted dancing in the sunroof of his 2010 Lexus GS350 after he left a traffic stop due to the officer taking too long.
The incident took place at Second and Market streets of Lewisburg PA when Colby Burke made an illegal right turn. While doing so, he almost collided with Trooper Jason Caccia of the Milton station. The accident was avoided courtesy of the trooper's quick response in terms of slamming on his breaks before any contact between the vehicles took place. Expectedly, however, the trooper initiated a traffic stop almost immediately before Burke was able to drive away.
Once pulled over, Colby Lee Burke and the Lewisburg PA officer had an exchange that resulted in Burke failing to provide his driver's license or registration paperwork. Regardless of the incomplete traffic stop, Burke simply drove off after a while as he thought that the officer was taking too long. As he was driving off, he played what the trooper recorded as loud homosexual sounds and was seen dancing in the sunroof of the Lexus.

Given the defendant's behavior, the police report indicated that he might have been on some form of synthetic drug. Upon chemical testing, however, it seemed that 20-year-old Colby Burke had no traces of this type of drug in his system. What led the trooper to make the previous assumption was the field sobriety test where Burke failed to showcase his sobriety and then refused to take further testing. Consequently, he was placed under arrest for the suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DWI).
Trooper Caccia then took Burke to his Milton station where the suspect was set to face an expert drug recognition from the state police department. During this encounter, however, he became very aggressive and the officers had to use necessary force to subdue him. Eventually, the trooper who initiated the traffic stop filed a series of charges with the office of the Magisterial District Judge Leo Armbruster. The charges that were reported included the DWI, disorderly of the 20-year-old, as well as two separate traffic offenses.

The preliminary hearing for the case was scheduled for November of 2017 which was a little over a month after this Lewisburg PA incident itself. That hearing, however, never took place as all the charges against Burke were dropped on November 1st. This took place once the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas analyzed the case and decided that all of the records should also be expunged. Any other documentation was further ordered destroyed.
So, the fascinating case of dancing away from a traffic stop will remain as one of the most interesting ones that happened in this region. The outcome, although unexpected to many, saw the 20-year-old Burke get his record cleared without any documents lingering to tie him to this venture.
