U.S. Cellular today announced a $10,000 donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Peoria to provide K-12 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) educational opportunities to youth. It is part of a $1 million donation to 53 clubs across the country. This is the fourth consecutive year U.S. Cellular has collaborated with this organization, providing a total investment of $40,000 in Peoria and more than $370,000 statewide since 2015, to deliver academic and afterschool enrichment programs.

“U.S. Cellular is committed to enhancing youth learning experiences in our local communities and proud to continue working with Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Peoria to invest in our future leaders,” said Nakeita Stewart, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Illinois. “Throughout the year, we strive to provide youth with unique, interactive opportunities, which showcase real-world applications for STEM careers.”

In addition to monetary donations, U.S. Cellular associates continue to engage in ongoing volunteer opportunities that enable them to mentor and provide youth with interactive learning experiences. Some of the activities Peoria-area associates have spearheaded with the local Boys & Girls Clubs include hosting a Black History Month Art Contest, working alongside members to beautify the club grounds and supporting the club’s Spring Extravaganza event.
