Walmart Supercenter in East Peoria Unveils Newly Remodeled Store

Project is part of Walmart's investment in Illinois shoppers

Walmart celebrated the grand re-opening of the remodeled East Peoria Supercenter at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, November 9. Mayor Dave Mingus attended the event to recognize Walmart’s investment in the city.

The improvements are part of Walmart’s plan to spend an estimated $56 million over the year in Illinois through the remodeling of 16 stores and the roll-out of several in-store and online innovations, like the Pickup Tower recently launched in Morton.

With the remodel, customers will enjoy the following store improvements:

  • State-of-the-art electronics department with interactive displays
  • Revitalized apparel department, including updated fitting rooms
  • New tool department with fresh look and added variety of tools available
  • Wider aisles and lower fixtures for improved store flow, better line of sight and easier navigation

“We’re excited to welcome our customers to the newly remodeled Supercenter just as the holiday season is starting up again,” said Store Manager Rex Van Rheeden. “We are committed to saving our customers time and money all season long!”

As part of the celebration, the East Peoria Supercenter presented monetary donations to local organizations in support of their important work in the community: Shop with a Cop ($2,500), East Peoria Kiwanis Club ($2,000), Neighborhood House ($2,000) and Tri-County Urban League ($500).
