3 Aggravated Speeding Tickets Among 92 Issued Around Labor Day: Cops

Officers issued a total of 92 citations and made two arrests during the department's three-week enforcement campaign.

PLAINFIELD, IL — In the three weeks Plainfield police participated in the Labor Day "Click It or Ticket" campaign, officers issued 92 citations and made two arrests.

The safety campaign encompassed three weeks, starting Aug. 19 and lasting through the early morning hours on Sept. 6.

Below is a breakdown of the types of citations issued:

  • 20 speeding
  • 48 no seat belt
  • 24 other citations
  • 1 arrest for suspended driver's license
  • 1 warrant arrest

Among the 20 speeding tickets, three were for aggravated speeding. Drivers were going 91 mph in a 35 mph zone, 90 mph in a 45 zone and 75 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to police.

The Plainfield Police Department teamed up with Illinois State Police and law enforcement agencies across the state to accomplish the ultimate goal: "to help save lives on our roadways."

"As law enforcement officers, we do our best to protect motorists, pedestrians, and other road users," police said in a news release. "While enforcement campaigns like these save lives, there is still much to be done. Please help us spread the messages of 'Click it or Ticket' and 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.'"
