3 Dogs, Several Small Pets Lost in Plainfield House Fire

Three dogs and several small pets were lost in a Plainfield house fire Tuesday, July 21, according to a release from the Plainfield Fire Protection District.
The fire occurred at 14407 S. Maple Court. The family of seven, two adults and five children, were not home at the time of the fire.
The call came in at 8:29 p.m. Tuesday evening. Callers said they could see smoke and flames coming from the living room window. The response was upgraded to a full still at 8:32 and by 9:04 p.m. the fire was brought under control.

The PFPD said the home is uninhabitable and the American Red Cross was brought in to provide assistance to the family. A voucher to stay the night at a local hotel was provided by the PFPD.
Damage to the home is estimated at $210,000 plus contents damaged or destroyed. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Plainfield Fire Protection District, the Plainfield Police Department and the MABAS 15 Fire Investigators.

Assistance in fighting the fire was provided by Bolingbrook, Naperville and Oswego Fire Departments. Station coverage for Plainfield during the fire was provided by Aurora, Lockport, Minooka, Romeoville and Troy Fire Departments.
