Plainfield firefighters had to extricate the at-fault driver following the collision, officials said.
PLAINFIELD, IL — Four cars collided Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Route 59 and 135th Street after a driver failed to slow down at a red light, Plainfield police said.
Plainfield police and firefighters received a report at about 3:15 p.m. regarding a crash with injuries in the northbound lanes of Route 59, just south of 135th Street.
Using witness statements and video evidence, police determined that three vehicles were stopped at a steady red light when a northbound Hyundai Tucson swerved and hit a Hyundai Elantra. The impact caused the Tucson to roll onto its side and hit a Ram 2500, while the Elantra was pushed into a Ford Escape, Cmdr. Anthony Novak told Patch.
