5 District 202 Students Place, More Exhibited At Art Invitational
The five students were among 19 from district high schools who competed in the fifth-annual contest at Lewis University.
PLAINFIELD, IL — Of 19 Plainfield School District 202 high school students who participated in an art contest at Lewis University, three won top spots, while two others received special recognition.
The high school students represented the district and their high schools at the fifth-annual High School Art Invitational at the Romeoville-based university.
Adam Jackson, a senior at Plainfield East High School, won "best in show" for his photograph titled "Absence," while Plainfield Central High School junior Emily Guardado won first place for her drawing "Las Mujeres De Le Mañana." From Plainfield North High School, senior Scarlette Conners won second place for a drawing titled "Orchidaceae."

Briana Zarazua, a senior at Plainfield East, and Tania Rocha, a senior at Plainfield South High School, both received honorable mentions for their works, titled "Deserted" and "Frog," respectively.
The 19 District 202 students' works of art are among 36 pieces of various mediums, including sculpture, painting, drawing, photography and digital illustration, on display at the Brent and Jean Wadsworth Family Gallery. Located in the Oremus Fine Arts Center off University Drive North on the university's campus, the exhibit can be viewed daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Jan. 14.
