The 7th Grade Travel to historic Springfield
During the 24 years in which Abraham Lincoln lived in our quaint state capital, he established his career as a lawyer and a statesman, and, in his own words, “passed from a young to an old man.” Recently St. Mary Immaculate 7th grade students traveled back to the mid-19th century to visit such sites such as Lincoln’s home, the Old State Capital, the Presidential Museum and Lincoln’s Tomb. The Springfield lessons our students learned go beyond Abe: the town rests on the historic Route 66 and boasts a prairie-style Frank Lloyd Wright House.
