PLAINFIELD, IL — Nicor Gas crews will be conducting an aerial leak detection in parts of Plainfield and neighboring communities Thursday and Friday, police said. The project requires crews to fly a helicopter at a low altitude.

"There are no known issues with Nicor's system and this routine allows them to test new technology by air," police said in a message to the community on Facebook around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
