PLAINFIELD, IL — An inebriated Braidwood man was found to be driving with multiple bottles of alcohol and cannabis pens following a traffic stop April 29 at Route 59 and Route 30, Plainfield police said.
Officers pulled over a white Mitsubishi around 1:37 a.m. after the driver, identified as Anthony J. Shats, disobeyed a traffic control device, Cmdr. Anthony Novak told Patch.
Shats, 43, was not able to provide police with a valid insurance card, and he appeared to be drunk, officials said.
"During the interaction with Anthony, the officer made several observations indicating that Anthony was under the influence of alcohol," Novak said.
Officers asked Shats to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Following the tests, police had "probable cause" to believe the man was driving under the influence of alcohol. Police also found five bottles of alcohol and two cannabis pens in the car.
Shats, of the 500 block of North Center Street in Braidwood, was taken to the police department for processing and subsequently charged with the following. His arrest was included in Tuesday's police blotter.
