KENDALL COUNTY, IL — A house was left uninhabitable by a blaze early Sunday morning in rural Kendall County near Plainfield, authorities said.
Firefighters responded around 8 a.m. to the blaze on Andy Court and arrived to find fire conditions at the back of the home, with flames extending into the attic, according to the Plainfield Fire Protection District, which extinguished the fire.
The sole occupant had left the home before emergency personnel arrived and was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, but declined hospital transportation, according to authorities, who said no firefighters were injured.
Damage was estimated at $300,000 and the cause of the fire was deemed unintentional, authorities said.
Firefighters used water tenders to shuttle water to the scene due to the lack of nearby hydrants, according to the district, which added that over a dozen neighboring agencies assisted on scene and with station coverage.
