PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Police Department is in the midst of another enforcement campaign, this one encompassing the Fourth of July holiday.
The campaign began June 19 and runs for three weeks, ending July 6. Plainfield police are joining the Illinois Department of Transportation and more than 200 local law enforcement agencies to focus on removing impaired and unbuckled drivers from roads, officials said Monday.
"We're asking all of our residents and visitors to celebrate Independence Day safely," Sgt. Dino Dabezic said in a statement. "It's simple: If you're driving, don't drink or use drugs. Our officers will be out in full force to keep impaired drivers off the road."
