Plainfield Police 4th Of July Enforcement Yields 36 Tickets

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Police Department issued a total of 36 citations during its three-week-long enforcement campaign encompassing the Fourth of July holiday, officials revealed Tuesday.

Between June 26 and July 6, officers issued 34 seat belt citations, one for cell phone use and one for stopping on railroad tracks, according to a news release. Officers also made two traffic arrests and one criminal arrest.

Plainfield police joined the Illinois Department of Transportation and more than 200 local law enforcement agencies to focus on removing impaired and unbuckled drivers from roads.

The Independence Day enforcement campaign was paid for with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
