JoAnn “Jodi” Scent Waldron, age 65, a lifelong resident of Plainfield, IL.

Jodi will be remembered for her strong spirit, her sense of humor, and the deep love she had for the people in her life.

JoAnn “Jodi” Scent Waldron, age 65, a lifelong resident of Plainfield, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at her home surrounded by the love of her family and friends following a brave battle with lung cancer. She was born on April 16, 1961, in Aurora, IL.

Jodi will be remembered for her strong spirit, her sense of humor, and the deep love she had for the people in her life.

Jodi was a devoted mother to Kati Waldron and Kimmi (Brian) Sorg, and a proud grandmother to BJ, Brady, Brennan, and Bryce, who brought her endless joy. She cherished every opportunity to watch her grandkids do what they loved and was always happiest when she was surrounded by her family.

She shared a special lifelong connection with Blaine Waldron. Jodi was also a dear sister to Sandi Bolton, Kathy O’Connell, Debbie Darnell, and Steve (Kathy) Scent, and a beloved sister-in-law, aunt, and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Jodi was preceded in death by her parents, Russ and Vi Scent, and her brothers-in-law, Larry Bolton, Pat O’Connell, and Fred Darnell.

Throughout her career, Jodi managed the books for many different offices and was known for her reliability, organization, and ability to keep things running smoothly. She formed lasting friendships everywhere she went and was truly a friend to many.

Outside of work, Jodi embraced life’s simple joys. She loved Aerosmith, Harley motorcycles, and spending time with the people she cared about most. She also adored her cats, Sasha and Freya, who were always close to her heart.

Jodi will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her love, laughter, and unwavering support will live on in the memories she created with the people who meant the most to her.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, 4:00-8:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Rd., Plainfield, IL.

A celebration of JoAnn's life will be held Wednesday, July 15, 10:00 AM at Plainfield United Methodist, 15114 S. Illinois St., Plainfield, IL 60544, (815) 436-9651, with Rev. Sherry Steele officiating.

Interment will follow at Plainfield Township Cemetery in Plainfield, IL.
