Mark F. Folkers, age 72, a resident of Bolingbrook, IL since June 2021, a former 30-year resident of Naperville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at UC Chicago Medicine Advent Health Bolingbrook Hospital. He was born on October 14, 1953, in Peoria, IL.

Beloved husband of Marguerite "Margie" Folkers (née Dybicz), whom he married on December 1, 1979, devoted son of the late John and Jacqueline (née Fleming) Folkers, dear brother of Paula (David) Langen of Peoria, IL and Steve (Arlone) Folkers of Leslie, AR, fond brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to many.

Mark grew up in Peoria, IL and graduated from Augustana College, Rock Island, IL in 1975 with a degree in Geography. He retired from Barrett's Technology Solutions in Naperville, IL in 2015.

Mark will be remembered as a passionate football fan who loved the Chicago Bears. He enjoyed traveling, especially America's national parks, was a stereo guru, a rock and roll historian and an automotive "gearhead". Mark was a euchre champion in college and was a competitive gamester (board and video games). He was a NASA advocate, a skilled fisherman and a patient puppy Dad to Rudy, Misha and Bailey.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, 2:00-4:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Rd., Plainfield, IL 60544.

A celebration of Mark's life will follow Saturday, 4:00 PM in the funeral home with Deacon Tom Sagenbrecht officiating.

Interment will be private.
