Thomas P. Choate, 66, of Romeoville

Thomas P. Choate, age 66, a resident of Grand Haven in Romeoville, IL, and formerly longtime of Aurora, IL, passed away July 11, 2026. He was born on August 21, 1959 in Berwyn, IL.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Judith (nee Elia); his siblings, Midge Choate, Michael (Pamela Moorhouse) Choate, and Patti (Paul) Campbell; his sisters-in-law, Joanne (Mark) Navarroli and Mary Elia; and his nieces and nephew, Amy, Dena, Alex, Katie and great-nephew, Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Mary Choate, and his sister, Kathleen Choate; his parents-in-law, Jim and Joan Elia, and his brother-in-law, Jim Elia.

Tom grew up in Bellwood and was a proud graduate of St. Simeon Grade School and St. Joseph High School. As a young man, he was an avid drummer and actively participated in sports, bringing enthusiasm and energy to everything he did.

Tom built a successful career as a commodities trader in Chicago, earning the respect of colleagues through his dedication and integrity.

He will be remembered most for his wonderful sense of humor, his kind and generous spirit, and a heart that was always open to others. His generosity knew no bounds, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Above all else, Tom's family was the center of his life. He cherished every moment spent with them, and his love and devotion were evident in everything he did. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 19, 4:00-8:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. All are welcome to gather for the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 20, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Aurora. All will meet for the committal services at 12:00 Noon at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
