1st Stage Of 127th Street, Plainfield-Naperville Road Project To Be Completed This Year

PLAINFIELD, IL — Improvements to the intersection of Plainfield-Naperville Road and 127th Street are scheduled to begin next week, Plainfield officials said.

Expected to start Aug. 31, the initial work will consist of grading and constructing temporary pavement along the west side of Plainfield-Naperville Road, according to a news release.

Once the temporary pavement is in place, drivers should expect to see a detour posted to allow work on the first stage of the project, which includes reconstructing 127th Street, also known as Reagan Boulevard, as well as northbound Plainfield-Naperville Road.

Utility relocation work, required ahead of construction, was completed in July.

The first stage of the project is expected to be completed this year, while the remaining items will be finished in 2027, officials said.

Once completed, the intersection will have a new traffic signal and dedicated left-turn lanes. The area will also have improved drainage and geometry.

The project is a collaboration between the Village of Plainfield, Village of Bolingbrook and the Will County Division of Transportation.
