Plainfield Teen Strangled Relative, Battered Neighbor In Domestic Disturbance: Police

PLAINFIELD, IL — A Plainfield teenager strangled a relative and battered a neighbor in a domestic incident Aug. 29 in the 24100 block of Hampshire Lane, police said.

Officers responded to the property at about 1 a.m. Saturday and spoke to the victims, two women, who said the 18-year-old Brayden Johnson got into an argument with them. He then battered and strangled one, who was a relative, and battered the other, who was a neighbor, Sgt. Luke Ostreko told Patch.

When police first arrived at the residence, they attempted to detain an agitated Johnson, who tried to flee. He and officers moved from room to room during the struggle, which ended in the garage. Ostreko said two officers received minor injuries but eventually secured the teen.

Plainfield paramedics evaluated the injured officers and neighbor at the residence. The relative was hospitalized as a result of her injuries, according to Ostreko.

Johnson was charged with aggravated domestic battery, two counts of aggravated battery to a police officer, battery and resisting a police officer. He was taken to the Will County jail, where he remains in custody as of Wednesday.
