From restoring the Avery Preserve disc golf course to hosting Pints for Parks fundraisers and brewing special beers that fund park improvements, their teamwork has raised thousands of dollars and energized local volunteers for Plainfield's parks.

2. Plainfield Teen Strangled Relative, Battered Neighbor In Domestic Disturbance: Police (patch.com) โ Plainfield police say an 18-year-old resident was arrested after a violent domestic disturbance on Hampshire Lane in which a female relative was strangled and another woman, a neighbor, was battered. Officers reported a struggle through several rooms before detaining the teen, with paramedics treating two injured officers and the neighbor, and the relative hospitalized as the suspect remains in Will County jail.

3. Improvements planned for Plainfield intersection; work set to begin Tuesday (shawlocal.com) โ Drivers in Plainfield should prepare for construction starting Sept. 8 at the Plainfield/Naperville Road and 127th Street intersection, where a major safety upgrade will add signals and turn lanes. Work begins with temporary pavement this year and continues through 2027, in a joint effort with Bolingbrook and Will County, so plan extra travel time around the work zone.

Another Chicago suburb bans kratom sales (fox32chicago.com) โ Naperville has joined Plainfield and several other Illinois communities in banning retail kratom sales, citing addiction and overdose concerns while still allowing possession. For Plainfield residents, this confirms your town is part of a growing regional push to restrict access to kratom products as local leaders press for broader state action.
