PLAINFIELD, IL — A Plainfield man's cell phone revealed hundreds of images and multiple videos depicting child pornography, the Will County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
Andre Tongue, 42, was charged with six felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse material following a months-long investigation.
On May 20, Will County detectives received multiple Internet Crimes Against Children cybertips that had been reported by Google to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children three months prior. Investigators identified Tongue as the suspect after executing search warrants and subpoenas to Google and other providers, according to a news release.
When Tongue appeared in court in June for an unrelated case, detectives seized his cell phone through a search warrant. A forensic review yielded about 439 images and 19 videos of child pornography, officials said.
The Will County State's Attorney's Office began reviewing the case on July 22 and issued a warrant for Tongue's arrest Nov. 2.
Tongue, of the 21200 block of West Silktree Circle, was booked at the Will County jail at about 9:50 p.m. Nov. 2 and released around 4:15 p.m. the next afternoon. His next court date, a preliminary hearing, is scheduled for Nov. 12.
