PLAINFIELD, IL — Threatening a family member with a bottle of alcohol landed a Plainfield man back in jail Oct. 29, police said.

Officers were dispatched at about 5:30 p.m. Oct. 29 to the 24200 block of West Ottawa Street for a reported domestic disturbance.

Police's investigation determined Larry Mitchell, 36, threatened to harm a family member with an alcohol bottle during a verbal altercation, Cmdr. Anthony Novak told Patch.

"Officers were able to verify the individual and Larry were 'family or household members' as defined in the Illinois Compiled Statutes, thus having a domestic relationship," Novak said.

Mitchell was charged with misdemeanor aggravated assault, booked at the Plainfield Police Department, then taken to the Will County jail. The sheriff's inmate records show he was also issued charges of parole violation and child endangerment.

The parole stemmed from a 2024 conviction from a felony domestic battery case, according to Department of Corrections records. He was sentenced to a year in prison. He was admitted again to the DOC on Nov. 3.

Jail logs list Mitchell's address as being in the 0-100 block of North Broadway Street in Joliet.
