Midwest-based AthletiCo Physical and Occupational Therapy recently opened a new physical therapy facility in Plainfield. The facility is easily accessible to the community, located at 24402 W. Lockport Street in the town square at the west end of downtown Plainfield. Services include physical therapy, orthopedic rehabilitation, sports medicine, work rehabilitation, work conditioning, functional capacity evaluations, spine control classes, Graston Techniques, and video throwing analysis. AthletiCo also has transportation services available for those patients unable to drive.

The Plainfield facility is managed by Caleb Syfert, a licensed physical therapist and certified athletic trainer whose wife was born and raised in Plainfield back when it was a small town with only one high school. “It’s very comforting knowing that I have this opportunity to open a clinic where my wife’s family has lived for so long, and we can help and support the Plainfield Community through our high quality of service and community involvement,” says Syfert.

“Plainfield is a rapidly growing community with a lot of young, active families,” says Syfert. “The city has done an amazing job of developing the downtown area over the past few years, and I'm glad AthletiCo can be a part of the downtown extension. Physical therapy offers so many benefits to such a variety of people, from post-surgical patients to arthritic patients, to even those people who just wake up and find that something hurts.”

Syfert’s motivation as a physical therapist stems from the progression he sees in patients who have lived in pain for years and didn't think physical therapy could help them.

“When I see the look on patients’ faces when their pain level decreases and their motion and function improve, it’s priceless,” he says. “I love explaining the anatomy and biomechanics of an injury, and seeing the light go on when they understand why they are having their current problem and how PT is helping.”

Syfert believes that an important part of physical therapy is education. As part of the education process, AthletiCo Plainfield offers complimentary injury screenings where a licensed physical therapist or athletic trainer will evaluate an injury, answer questions, and recommend next options. This free assessment is the first step in seeing the potential physical therapy has to help people live pain free.
