Annual Fandom Fest Happening On Earth Day At Plainfield Library

The event will include character visits, a cosplay contest, face painting, a Beatles exhibition and more.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield Area Public Library's annual Fandom Fest is happening Saturday, coinciding with Earth Day.

Fandom Fest will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the downtown Plainfield library, 15025 S. Illinois St.

Guests will be able to meet and greet characters, enter to participate in a cosplay contest and view art on display from 15 artists taking part in Artist Alley.

This year's fest will also feature a Beatles exhibition and panel.

Entries for the event's cosplay contest are still being accepted and will be until noon Saturday. Four prizes will be given out in four categories: Kids (through fifth grade), Teens (sixth through 12th grade), Adults and Fan Favorite, for which voting takes place on the library's Facebook page.

To take part in the cosplay contest, all participants have to do is submit up to five photos depicting the fully completed cosplay. A panel of judges will choose a winner in each category based on criteria including construction, accuracy and presentation.

Prizes include fandom swag and a gift card, organizers said.
