Annual Food Drive Will Provide Meals To District 202 Students

Bags For Hope is taking place at Creekside Elementary School this week to raise donations of non-perishable food items.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The annual Bags of Hope food drive has begun in Plainfield. Taking place Monday through Friday at Creekside Elementary School, the effort will raise donations to provide meals for hundreds of Plainfield District 202 students weekly.

Community members can drop off non-perishable food items at the school, located at 13909 S. Budler Road in Plainfield, daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Items can be sent with kids or placed in food boxes inside the school's main entrance.

Select items, such as kid-friendly snacks, are specifically needed, organizers noted. They include:

  • Boxed pasta
  • Canned meats, including tuna and chicken
  • Canned spaghetti sauce
  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned fruit
  • Ramen (brick form)
  • Mac and cheese boxes
  • Goldfish
  • Granola bars
  • Fruit snacks
  • Popcorn

When possible, organizers said no glass jars are preferable.
