Ash Borer: More Trees Slated For Removal This Weekend
Residents are asked not to park on the street on Saturday, Sunday.

JOLIET, IL — The City of Joliet's Roadways Division will be out this weekend removing more trees to prevent the spread of the emerald ash borer. Crews will be cutting down trees from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in these subdivisions:
- Kendall Ridge
- Silver Leaf
- Clublands
- Wexford East
The city is asking residents not to park on the street in these subdivisions during tree-removal hours, and reminding drivers to use caution when workers are present. "There will be occasions where roadways will be closed to through traffic due to tree removal operations," the city said in a press release. "Residents should expect traffic delays in these subdivisions as they remove ash trees."
Ash trees will also be removed on Plainfield Road from Jefferson Street to Raynor Avenue; Chicago and Ottawa Streets from McDonough Street to Washington Street; and an area bounded by Ruby Street to Ingalls Avenue from Raynor Boulevard to the DesPlaines River.

The city said only the will be removed this weekend. "The Roadways Division crews will return at a later date to perform stump grinding," officials said.
