Balloon Guy, Trick-Or-Treating: Halloween Spooktacular Returns

Plainfield residents will have an early opportunity for some Halloween activities at this year's Halloween Spooktacular set for Oct. 30.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield residents still planning Halloween activities can mark their calendars for the annual Halloween Spooktacular Oct. 30. Event-goers can trick-or-treat at participating businesses, take pictures in a photo booth and visit the balloon guy for some holiday fun.

Hosted by the Plainfield Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce, the free Spooktacular will take place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in downtown Plainfield.

People will be able to pick up treat bags at Guaranteed Rate, located at 24113 W. Lockport St., next to the Chamber of Commerce. DNA Active Lifestyle Outfitters will be giving away free pumpkins, and anyone can participate in a haunted word game — for which sheets can be picked up at the Plainfield Public Library, 5025 S. Illinois St., or at Guaranteed Rate.

The balloon man, who has made appearances at past Spooktaculars, will be hanging out at the Chamber of Commerce during the event, and vendors will set up booths at the intersection of Lockport and Des Plaines streets. A costume contest will be held at the library, also where the photo booth can be found.

With lots of activities to choose from, there will be no shortage of things to do at the Halloween Spooktacular.

The following day, on Halloween, village officials set Plainfield's recommended trick-or-treating hours for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
