Barn 'A Total Loss' After Sunday Fire That Killed Some Livestock: FD
A large two-story barn in the 600 block of Wheeler Road in unincorporated Plainfield caught fire just before 3 a.m. Sunday.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A large two-story barn in unincorporated Plainfield was "a total loss" after an early Sunday morning fire, according to officials at the Plainfield Fire Protection District.
Residents of the house on the property were able to self-evacuate before firefighters arrived at 2:51 a.m. Although several animals were removed from the barn, some livestock died in the blaze, officials said.
Crews found heavy fire showing from the barn, and it began to spread to the residents' house and another barn in close proximity. Flames stopped extending into structures before the barn was completely extinguished, but both sustained minor damage, according to firefighters.
