PLAINFIELD, IL — A Batavia middle school principal was appointed the next director of high school curriculum and instruction at Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202.

The District 202 Board of Education approved Tara Piatek for the role at its March 25 meeting. The new administrator begins on July 1.

"As a principal, I have enjoyed shaping our curriculum and instructional strategies in the building and feel that being able to do that on a larger scale will be very rewarding," Piatek said in a statement. "Preparing students for post-secondary opportunities — whether that is college, the workforce or military service — is some of the most important work we can do."

At Rotolo, Piatek created outreach programs to connect students and parents to the school. She also collaborated with teachers to establish a social-emotional learning curriculum, led school safety initiatives, and contributed to district curriculum committees.

Paula Sereleas, the assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, said Piatek will bring student-focused leadership to the directorial role.

"Her experience will allow her to lead in areas of achievement, career and college readiness, and will further strengthen the alignment between our high school and middle school initiatives," she said.

Piatek has a master's degree in curriculum and instruction as well as multiple educational certifications, District 202 said.
