The Bingo Ball Has Spoken

Plainfield Trustee Candidate Brian Wojowski wins draw.

The ball has been chosen and the winner is Brian Wojowski. Plainfield now officially has its third trustee position filled.

Plainfield Trustee Candidate Michael Lambert chose the ball first. He looked at it and immediately congratulated Wojowski on his win. He chose ball No. 2. The candidate that chooses ball No. 1 wins.

After winning, Wojowski said it was a unique experience.

“It does show that every vote counts,” Wojowski said. “Every single vote. And it came down to that this time.”

Now that he’s on the board, Wojowski said he wants to foster business growth in the Plainfield community and encourage more people to vote.

“I’m interested in the early voting opportunities and to get the word out,” Wojowski said. “...If it takes knocking on doors I’ll do that.”

Only 741 votes were cast for both Wojowski and Lambert in a community of 39,000.

“Those 700 people decide the other 39,000’s fate,” he said. “I think it’s important.”

Other places will determine a victor in the event of a tie with a coin toss, and Wojowski’s first suggestion after winning was to suggest that Will County get an official coin to decide races.

“We could,” Will County Clerk Nancy Schultz Voots said. “But we’ve been doing (ball draws) for years.”

Prior to the ball draw, Lambert said that if he doesn’t win he’ll just go on with his life.

The ball drawing itself took less than a minute.

“That was quick, wasn’t it?” Schultz Voots said. “Wasn’t that something, though? This is it. This is how it goes.”
