1. St. Louis Rams- Some teams are aggressive when it comes to the draft. If the best player is available, they will go after that player. The Rams traded up to the eighth spot to select Tavon Austin who was arguably the top wide receiver in the NFL draft. He’s a mix of Percy Harvin and Randall Cobb. He displays so much versatility and can be used in a variety of ways. He’s quick, brings that home run/big play threat down the field, can take handoffs and most importantly can catch the football and he’s great yards after the catch. He will bring a splash to an offense that lost two playmakers in St.Louis in Danny Amendola and Steven Jackson. The Rams also drafted a very high profiled linebacker in Alec Ogletree and that was another big move as well. You add him to the mix with Jake Long, Janoris Jenkinks and James Laurinaitis. The Rams made a splash in this year’s draft. Let’s see how it’ll pan out on the field.
2. Minnesota Vikings- After trading Percy Harvin to the Seahawks, the Vikings drafted his replacement in Cordarelle Patterson from Tennessee. I like this pick a lot. He will be asked to start right away and try to have an impact on that Vikings offense that has relied heavily on Adrian Peterson a great deal. He can run all his routes and he’s a red zone threat, something the Vikings have lacked for quite a few seasons. The Vikings need to patch some things up on defense as well and drafted defensive tackle Shariff Floyd from Florida and drafted defensive back Xavier Rhodes from Florida State and Minnesota had a lot of issues in that secondary. All three of these guys will probably start and be asked to make an immediate impact.
3. Cincinnati Bengals- Since he was drafted in 2011, A.J. Green has been that go to guy on the Bengals. When you saw the stats, he was always on top of the stat sheet. Why not get him some help on that offense? The Bengals drafted Tyler Eifert with the 21st overall pick in this year’s NFL draft. I’ve often made comparisons of Tyler to Rob Gronkowski having given him the nickname “baby gronk”. Tyler will come in and take a lot of pressure off of A.J Green. He’s a tight end who has great body control, good hands and he can block with is a huge plus. Now, Andy Dalton has a another offensive weapons besides A.J. Green and Jermaine Gresham.
