The Best In The Biz series contiunes. Today, I’m talking running backs. Below are the five best backs in the game today. Enjoy.
1. Adrian Peterson- A lot of questions surrounded this guy last year entering the 2012 season. How would his knee hold up after seriously injuring it on Christmas Eve in 2011. Would he be the same back? How would his knee treat him for a 16 game season? He silenced all the doubters with a season to remember in 2012. 2,097 yards rushing, 12 touchdowns, 6 yards a carry and 131 rushing yards per game. You can load the box to defend him but he seems to find a way around defenses. He has great field vision. He knows where he wants to go and he’ll get there with no problem at all. He’s a rare size of strength, speed, size, agility along with a very aggressive running style. Without A.P, the Vikings don’t have a shot a making the playoffs last season.
2. Arian Foster- What a story he’s been. Arian Foster entered the 2010 season as an undrafted free agent who really made a name for himself in the Texans offense. He wins the rushing title that year and ever since then he has had a stellar NFL career. He’s emerged as a top 5 running back and a top ten player in my opinion as well. He’s an all around back. He can run it in between the tackles, outside the tackles and catch passes out the backfield. You have to account for him as a receiver as well as a runner. When I see him play, he reminds me a lot of LaDainian Tomlinson with his ability to change the outcome of a game with one play whether it’s running the ball or receiving it. He’s in the prime of his career and could be number one within a short period of time on everybody’s top running backs list.

3. Marshawn Lynch- He’s really revitalized his career in Seattle. I’ve been very high on Marshawn these last few years and I think he’ll only get better as the years go along. The nickname beast mode suits him well because that’s what he is, a beast. He’s a powerful runner that doesn’t have to juke and spin to get by a defender. He will run somebody over to gain yards. He’s a physical back that can control the line of scrimmage and took a lot of pressure off of Russell Wilson last year. He ran for 1,590 yards last season and scored 15 touchdowns. He’s a very vital piece to what the Seahawks offense does.
4. Ray Rice- Ray is the engine to the Ravens offense. I’ve often stated that if you take away Ray Rice as a defense, you shut down the Ravens offense. When this guy touches the football at least 18-25 times a game, the Ravens win football games. He’s been a consistent playmaker since he was drafted by the Ravens in 2008. He’s a smaller back but he plays a lot bigger than he appears to be in stature. Just like so many running backs today, he’s as effective catching the ball as he is running the ball. He can average a good 110 yards rushing and have 75-80 receiving yards a game. He’s definitely the go to guy on a Ravens offense that will need him more than ever come 2013.

5. Matt Forte- I still think Forte is one of the best running backs in the game today. Yes, he’s injured at times but he gets the job done when he’s healthy. He’s a brusing back with the ability to get into the flat and catch the ball. He’s another dual threat back and another weapon for Jay Cutler to get the ball to in Chicago. He’s a downhill runner who likes to lower that shoulder and knock someone down who’s in his path to gain yards per each carry.
