Birds Battle in Georgia Dome

Seahawks/Falcons preview.

NFC Divisional Playoff

Seahawks (12-5) at Falcons (13-3)

Seahawks: Last week’s win in D.C. showed you everything you need to know about the Seahawks. This team can compete with anyone and match up with anyone. Some think this team can get to the Super Bowl but that’s stretching it to me. The Seahawks were given some bad news Monday about a key player on their defense. Chris Clemons will miss the rest of the playoffs with a torn ACL and that’s a significant loss for them. He’s been their best pass rusher and his impact has made everyone else on that defensive front better. That’s 11.5 sacks gone for the season right there. A win on Sunday, they’re in their second career NFC Championship game. Can the Seahawks keep streaking?

Falcons: No team enters the playoffs with questions surrounding them more than the Atlanta Falcons. They always have a great regular season and then struggle and are one and down come January. This team has the talent to advance but they beat themselves. Remember their last playoff appearance? They played the eventual champion Giants and scored only 2 points. Out of all four teams who received a first round bye, the Falcons are by far a pretender to me until they show me otherwise. This week off should be a good thing for them because key guys are injured. John Abraham and Asante Samuel were two of those guys. The Falcons look to get over the hump Sunday by winning a playoff game since 2005.

Prediction: This is another big game for the Seahawks. They now face the team with the best record in the NFC. The matchup that’s grabbing my attention is these Seahawks DB’s against the best WR tandem in football in Julio Jones and Roddy White. Atlanta’s biggest weakness has been stopping the run and with a Running Back like Marshawn and a mobile QB in Russell coming to town, they’ll need to be on it. I like Seattle to get another big road win in the playoffs. Seahawks 27 Falcons 20
