Change the World!!!

Hope, Plainfield, and Sharon UMC's partner up to Change the World.

Sunday May 5th was a beautiful day. The sun was out, birds were chirping and you may have noticed several people in bright yellow shirts that said “Change the World”. That is because that is exactly what Hope, Plainfield, & Sharon UMC’s set out to do. There were over 250 volunteers and over twenty community projects. These projects ranged from making fleece blankets for children in need, manicures for residents of Lakewood Nursing Home, cleaning up yards for the home bound and so much more.

Change the World is an annual event in its fourth year within the Methodist community. The purpose of this event is to gauge everyone to rethink church. The global Change the World weekend is May 18th-19th. These churches just couldn’t wait to help though. Church isn’t just about sitting inside and listening to your pastors preach the word. It is also about being the change.  It is time we rethink church and go into the community and help our fellow people.

Every year Change the World continues to grow. Its first year started as a joint effort between Plainfield and Sharon UMC. This year to have Hope UMC join was such a wonderful thing. All three churches partnering up with two goals in mind: Rethink Church and Change the World. The members of Hope, Plainfield, & Sharon UMC’s were excited to get out and lend a hand.
