1. New York Giants at New England Patriots-
It’s the moment we’ve all waited for. What’s #1 on my Super Bowl list? Super
Bowl XLII takes the number one spot. Let’s look at everything that took place
prior to this game. The Giants started the 2007 season at 0-2 then reeled off 6
wins in a row. They would finish with a 10-6 record and their final game of the
season was against the best team in football, the Patriots. The Patriots were
the first team in NFL history to go 16-0. They had everything going for them.
Brady thre 50 td passes, Randy Moss revitalized his career by catching 23 of
Tom’s 50 touchdown passes, the offense scored a total of 589 points that season.
Who would’ve thought these two would meet in the biggest game of them all. Out
of all of New England’s opponents that season, the Giants played them the best.
They pressured Brady often in that late December match-up but the Patriots were
still winners, 38-35. Entering this Super Bowl, the Patriots were the first 18-0
team in NFL history. The storylines entering this one were at an all time high.
History could’ve been made by either team. The Giants entered this game with a
lot of confidence. They put pressure on Brady early and often, similar to the
regular season finale in December. The Giants offense played their game and
established the running game to keep that prolific Patriot offense on the
sideline. It was a close game all the way throughout. The first half was a
defensive battle. A Patriots team that scored often in the first half was held
to only 7 points. The third quarter, we saw the same, no touchdowns, all
defense. This game would be decided in the fourth quarter. Late in the fourth,
Brady and Moss connected for a TD to put New England up 14-10. It was the Giants
time to shine. Two of the most memorable plays in Super Bowl history took place
on this drive. The first was “the catch”. What looked like a sure sack of Eli
would turn into a 32 yard pass downfield to David Tyree. The Giants offense had
momentum now and would reach the endzone on a Plaxico Burress touchdown
reception to give the Giants the lead, 17-14. New England had one more shot to
get the ball downfield. The Giants defense held their ground sacking Brady and
he threw three incomplete passes. The Giants were Super Bowl champs and handed
the Patriots their first loss all year. The defense was absolutely great sacking
Brady 5 times. This tops the list of the best Super Bowl’s I’ve ever seen.
