Super Bowl XXXVIII Kicks Off My List

I'm counting down the five best Super Bowls. Here's number 5.

5. Carolina Panthers at New England Patriots- I decided to do a list of the five best Super Bowls that I’ve seen over the years and what’s starting the list today was an instant classic with many storylines entering the game as well. The Patriots were the talk of the NFL. After a 2-2 start that season, they reeled off 12 straight wins to finsih with a 14-2 record and the one seed in the AFC playoff picture. The Carolina Panthers were a Cinderella team. That year in the NFC, the three best teams were the Rams (who they beat that year in the playoffs), the Eagles (who they defeated in the NFC Championship game) and the Packers with a Quarterback named Brett Favre. The Panthers finished 11-5 that season and not too many people knew about this team. When these two met in the Super Bowl 9 seasons ago, it was a game for the ages. The Panthers were making their Super Bowl debut and the Patriots were aiming to win their second Super Bowl title in 3 years. Most of the first half of this game was a defensive battle with neither team scoring at all until late in the second quarter. The third quarter was a defensive battle as well as either team but the fourth quarter is where the fireworks exploded. The lead kept going back and forth. Once Carolina had it, then the Patriots had it. That’s great football at it’s finest right there. This game would end with Adam Vinatieri kicking the game winning field goal and the Pats were champs. Despite a lack of scoring in 2 of the 4 quarters, both teams combined to score 61 points and both combined to have 868 total yards of offense. This kicks off the list of the five best Super Bowl’s I’ve seen.
