Carmine DiGiovine, 68, of Joliet

A loving brother, uncle and friend to many, Carmine was a graduate of Plainfield High School '74

Carmine DiGiovine, age 68, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024 at Lightways Hospice, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on August 29, 1956 in Joliet, IL.

Carmine is survived by his loving siblings, Anthony (Candace) DiGiovine, Mary (Mark Hendele) DiGiovine, Theresa (Jim) Schmidt and Rosemarie (Dave) Mann; his dear nieces, Katie (Joey) Nick and Lauren Schmidt; his dear friend, Kathleen Devine and his four-legged friend, “Buzz.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Florence (nee DiPietrantonio) DiGiovine.

Carmine grew up in Plainfield Township and graduated from Plainfield Township High School, Class of 1974. He retired from DIAGEO after many years of loyal service. He enjoyed staying in shape, working out and his daily walks along the Forest Preserve. He loved listening to rock and roll music, especially The Allman Brothers. Carmine treasured every winter he was able to spend in the sunshine in St. Pete Beach, FL. He will be missed by his family and those who were lucky to call him their friend.

The family would extend a special thanks to Dr. Robin Buerki and Associates at Northwestern Medicine for their kindness, support and care provided to Carmine.

For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Carmine’s life, memorial donations may be directed to Lightways Hospice or the Lou and Jean Malnati Brain Tumor Institute of the Lurie Cancer Center, Northwestern.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 4, 4:00-8:00 PM at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. A celebration of Carmine’s life will begin on Tuesday, November 5, 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Plainfield Township Cemetery.
