Celebrate Week of the Young Child with the Plainfield Park District and C.W. Avery Family YMCA April 14-17!
Residents of all ages are invited to attend FREE community events!

The C.W. Avery Family YMCA and the Plainfield Park District are teaming up to honor young children and all those who make a difference in children’s lives by celebrating the Week of the Young Child. Residents of all ages are invited to attend FREE community events!
Fun with Clifford the Big Red Dog at the Heritage Professional Center, 24023 W. Lockport Street, Plainfield on Tuesday, April 14 from 1-3p. The event will include crafts, a Scholastic book fair and a special appearance by Clifford the Big Red Dog.
Nature Fun will take place on Thursday, April 16 from 12-1:30p.at C.W. Avery Family YMCA, 15120 Wallin Drive, Plainfield. Children of all ages can take part in a number of fun activities during Nature Day at the YMCA. Participants can plant a flower to take home, make a pine cone bird feeder to hang in the yard, or learn about different kinds of trees and animals during this super fun event.

The week will conclude with Family Fun Night on Friday, April 17 from 6:30-8p. at Plainfield Township Community Center, 15014 S. Des Plaines Street, Plainfield. Fun for all ages, Family Fun Night festivities will include a Scholastic book fair and bounce house fun, courtesy of the YMCA. Residents are also invited to attend a special performance of the “It’s a Jungle Out There” C.R.I.CKET show from 7:15-8p. Admission to the show is free, but all guests are asked to bring one new, or gently used book. All books will be donated to Lamb’s Fold Center in Joliet.
The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC is dedicated to improving the well-being of all young children, with particular focus on the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8. The annual Week of the Young Child event was created to celebrate young children and thank teachers and all those who make a difference in young children’s lives.
