Children, Left Without Parents, Helped By GoFundMe Page

Their parents were shot to death on March 2 at a Michigan university, allegedly by a sibling.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist the children of James Eric Davis Sr. and Diva Davis, who were killed Friday, March 2 at Central Michigan University, allegedly by one of their sons. James Eric Davis Jr., 19, was taken into custody on March 3.

Russell Davis, a divinity doctoral student, and Alexis Davis, a 16-year-0ld high school junior are in need of assistance after losing their parents. "Russell and Alexis need your help. As a result not having a will in place, a long probate process looms ahead," says a GoFundMe set up to assist them.

"Not only are there funeral expenses to be paid, they have daily basic needs such as food, clothing, medical and the psychological counseling that will be needed to help them heal," the GoFundMe says.

On Thursday night, March 1, Davis Jr. went to CMU campus police, afraid that somebody was going to cause him harm. Police believed him to be incoherent and potentially influenced by drugs. They had him call his parents, who were planning on picking him up for spring break.

Police brought Davis Jr. to a hospital Thursday night and he was released in the morning. That's when surveillance photos allegedly show Davis Jr. walking toward the dorm with a gun, which he used to kill his parents, police say. He was arrested Saturday.

Russell said people should not "make a villain" of his brother on Facebook. "I want him safe, supported and prayed for just like my sister ... and I." he added, "Please don't make a villain of my brother... that is NOT who he is... and despite the circumstances, he also lost a mother and father... And I LOVE him."

The gun Davis Jr. used allegedly belonged to his father.

At the time of publication, the GoFundMe page has raised $15,824 of the $100,000 goal.
