Clown Threatening Plainfield School is an Internet Hoax
Plainfield School District 202 is letting parents know there is nothing to be afraid of.

PLAINFIELD, IL — You’ve undoubtedly heard about creepy clown sightings all across the country, and now it seems it’s made its way into Plainfield.
Except for the fact it's been deemed a hoax.
A photo showing a clown standing in front of the Plainfield South High School has made the rounds online, leaving some parents scared for their children’s safety.

Plainfield School District 202 Director of Community Relations Tom Hernandez has said the incident is nothing more than a hoax.
“We ask parents and students to be cautious of what they share via social media,” Hernandez said in a message to parents. “We appreciate students and parents alerting the schools to any potential threats. We will continue to share information with the local police about this matter.”

Even @IllinoisClown is trying to calm fears, tweeting out the same message District 202 sent to parents.

Hernandez said the safety of students and staff is the District’s top priority and if there is ever a legitimate threat, the District will notify parents immediately.
