Plainfield South grad to begin clinical rotations at pediatric and oncology units

Janelle Aguilar, a Plainfield South High School alumna, is a junior at Marquette University. She is in the nursing program and made dean's list for the fall semester with a GPA of 3.7 and had a GPA of 3.66 in the spring semester. She will be doing her clinical rotations at a pediatric unit and at an oncology unit next year during her final year.

Civil engineering student makes dean’s list at Cedarville University

Ethan Kelly from Plainfield, majoring in Civil Engineering, was named to the spring 2023 Dean's Honor List at Cedarville University. This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Plainfield students earn University of Nebraska-Lincoln degree

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln conferred a record 3,753 degrees during commencement exercises May 19 and 20.

The 3,669 graduates are from 59 countries; 47 states, the District of Columbia and Guam; and more than 240 Nebraska communities.

Following is a list of area graduates:

  • Plainfield: Andrew Kenneth Battcher, College of Business, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
  • Plainfield: Patrick James Malec, College of Business, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Plainfield student earns dean’s list nods at University of Evansville

Sydney Koplinski of Plainfield has been named to the University of Evansville Dean's List for outstanding academic achievement during the Spring 2023 semester.

More than 640 students at UE were named to the Dean's List. To merit this honor, a student must have carried a full academic load of 12 hours or more and have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or above.

Local student presents at Central College’s Research and Creative Inquiry event

Central College hosted a Celebration of Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry event to showcase the many projects by Central students during the 2022-2023 academic year. The event included in-person honors thesis and senior projects in psychology presentations, as well as pre-recorded and poster sessions.

Participating in the CURCI was: Sara Sienkiewicz of Plainfield, IL, Class of 2026. Presentation title: Internship: Pella Police Department.

Augustana College awards degrees to Plainfield students

Augustana College recognized 624 participants at the college's 163rd commencement ceremony Saturday, May 27. CNN Hero Nelly Cheboi '16 delivered the commencement address.

The Class of 2023 is the most diverse class in Augustana's 163-year history, with graduates hailing from 20 countries including the United States and 24 U.S. states.
Those recognized included:

  • Isabelle Dale from Plainfield, Ill., (60585) studied Music Education Vocal.
  • Ava Rogers from Plainfield, Ill., (60585) studied Accounting, Spanish for Professionals and International Business-Marketing.
  • Brant Schulze from Plainfield, Ill., (60585) studied Data Analytics.
  • Jack Worfel from Plainfield, Ill., (60585) studied Biology.
