Plainfield North alumna named on Northern Illinois University dean’s list

Cindy Holasek, a graduate of Plainfield North High School, was named to Northern Illinois University’s dean’s list for the fall 2023 semester.

The Naperville native, who is majoring in English with a focus in writing studies and a minor in professional communication, loves studying surrounded by her cat and plants and is a perfect example of what hard work and perseverance will get you. We are so very proud of this dynamic person!

To earn this distinction, students must meet a minimum semester grade point average of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale in the colleges of Business, Education, Health and Human Sciences, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Visual and Performing Arts.

Holasek will graduate in the spring of 2024.

Plainfield native makes dean’s list at McKendree University

Congratulations to Karley Sonnenberg, of Plainfield, who was named to the McKendree University fall 2023 semester Dean's List for earning a grade point average of 3.60 or higher.

Local student qualifies for Shenandoah University dean’s list

Blake Barnickel, of Plainfield, is one of 1,126 students who earned a spot on the Dean's List at Shenandoah University for the Fall 2023 semester.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students enrolled in baccalaureate degree programs must complete at least 12 semester hours and earn a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher. Dean's List students who achieve a GPA of 3.90 or higher are also recognized on the university's President's List.

President’s list at Southeast Missouri State University includes Plainfield student

Jenny Shook of Plainfield has been named to the Southeast Missouri State University President's List for academic achievement during the fall 2023 semester.

Students named to the list earned at least a 4.0 grade point average and completed at least 12 hours of standard graded credit in a semester.

Plainfield athlete earns spot on University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team

Kara Welsh from Plainfield, IL, who is studying Business at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, has earned a roster spot on the Warhawk gymnastics team for the 2024 season.

UW-Whitewater placed fourth at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association West Regional Championship in 2023. Five different Warhawks earned All-America honors, including Kara Welsh, who captured the NCGA national title on vault.

Head coach Jennifer Regan enters her 22nd season at the helm of the program in 2024. She has led the Warhawks to five NCGA team national championships and five WIAC/NCGA West Region titles. Regan is a three-time National Coach of the Year and two-time conference Coach of the Year.
